WP Engine Raises $15 Million to Accelerate Growth and Innovation

logo_small_horizontalToday we’re extremely excited to announce that we’ve secured $15 million in growth funding from North Bridge Growth Equity.

As we continue to experience hyper-growth as a business, this investment will enable us to accelerate our platform innovation and deliver market leading customer experiences.

The funding comes at a time of explosive growth for WordPress, which is now the most popular content management system on the internet. Since our founding in 2010, we have grown alongside WordPress to power tens of thousands of websites and applications built with the WordPress platform.

Matthew Blodgett, a General Partner at North Bridge Growth Equity, has joined our Board of Directors as part of this new investment. Matthew shares my excitement about our partnership, stating:

We are thrilled to partner with the WP Engine team as they build the next great platform company for the front lines of digital customer interaction. WP Engine has what it takes to win – a powerful vision, strong technology and a seasoned executive team with a track record of success. Together with their clients and the WordPress community, WP Engine is building a new breed of fast, secure, and reliable content management.

North Bridge forms active partnerships with entrepreneurs to provide seed-to-growth financing. With $3.5 billion in capital currently under management, they have funded more than 170 companies—including Demandware, Disqus, Dyn, and Quora.

We are really looking forward to working with Matthew and the rest of the team at North Bridge, and benefiting from their extensive experience partnering with companies in the Software, Open Source, Cloud Computing, Infrastructure, and Digital Media sectors.

As for our customers, we sincerely thank you for joining us as we enter this new phase of our business. We are always striving for more, and can’t wait to bring you the next evolution of WP Engine platform and service innovations.

We are all incredibly proud to work at WP Engine and to have the opportunity to serve so many incredible customers and businesses worldwide. Our goal continues to be nothing less than delivering the best customer experience for managing WordPress in the marketplace.
