Inform, Educate, And Inspire Marketers and Agencies With Strategic Insights Tied To Open Source

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 24, 2017  WP Engine today announced Velocitize, an online publication geared to provide insights for digital marketers and agencies. However, rather than focusing broadly on the latest trends in digital marketing today, the publication will examine these issues more narrowly through the lens of open source.

The 2016 results from the North Bridge Growth Equity & Venture Partners and Black Duck Software Future of Open Source Survey notably found that open source has become today’s preeminent software architecture, the foundation for nearly all applications, operating systems, cloud computing, databases, and big data. In fact, 90% of respondents to the study said they rely on open source for improved efficiency, innovation, and interoperability — a testament to the strategic influence open source has on their business. And just as open source software is changing the rules for IT, it promises to become the foundational part of a core toolset that digital marketers rely on in the future.

Further, marketing departments have increasingly become responsible for a sizable percentage of enterprise application purchases and deployment decisions according to a Gartner presentation. As this happens, increasingly, they will be choosing open source alternatives for marketing automation, graphic design, CRM, ERP, ecommerce, web content management, analytics and across the entire marketing stack as alternatives to costly proprietary software.

“We’re seeing a clear customer demand in the market for more unified digital experiences from brands across all channels and devices. This requires more open platforms that are purpose-built for integration across all the digital touchpoints,” said Mary Ellen Dugan, chief marketing officer for WP Engine. “Velocitize will help digital marketers and agencies navigate this digital transformation and learn how open source can help fuel their digital success.”

Velocitize has launched with over 58 articles ranging from digital trends and reports, marketing expertise from brands, innovation, agency insights, and interviews with industry leaders. Recent features have concentrated on such issues as why agencies need to embrace the now with ‘agile’, how digital marketers and agencies can use data to make better decisions about creative, and what brands really need to know about virtual reality.

The publication is always interested in new contributors to share their stories. If you would like to contribute an article please check out our contributor page.
