What products and services can I refer through the WP Engine affiliate program?

Our affiliate program gives you the opportunity to earn commissions for referring new customers who purchase a WP Engine hosting plan or a StudioPress theme. Both products can be tracked through the same affiliate link, making it even easier to earn commissions from your promotions! For more information, and to sign up, click here.

How do I join the affiliate program?

You can apply to our affiliate program at wpengine.com/affiliate. Simply click “Register Now” and follow the instructions. You will need to create an account with ShareASale if you do not have one already. If approved, you will be emailed your tracking link and other helpful tips to get you started.

Note: It can take up to 3-5 days to get approved to the program if you do not already have an account with ShareASale.

What is ShareASale?

How much do I earn for each referral?

Commissions are structured as one-time payments for each new purchase.

For WP Engine hosting plans, you will earn $200 minimum or equal to the first month's payment, whichever is higher. For example, a Startup plan at $30/mo would earn you $200 in commission, but with a Scale plan referral at $290/mo, you would earn $290 in commission. With an annual purchase, the total payment is divided by 12 to find the equivalent monthly rate, and the commission is based off that amount.

For StudioPress theme purchases, the commission rate is 35% of the theme’s value per sale. For example, by referring the Revolution Pro theme at $129.95, you would earn $45.48 in commission.

When will I receive my commission?

For WP Engine hosting plans, we require new referrals remain uncancelled for a minimum of 62 days before any commission is paid out. This coincides with our 60 day money back guarantee for new customers.

For StudioPress theme purchases, we require new referrals remain uncancelled for 60 days.

ShareASale issues payments on the 20th of every month, so your commission is set for the first 20th date following the minimum cancellation period for each product.

How are my sales tracked?

Sales are tracked when a customer clicks through your affiliate link and completes a purchase. When a link is clicked, it places a cookie on the browser and will track any sale that takes place within in a certain period. If the customer successfully signs up with your affiliate link, your account will be credited with the referral commission. For the privacy of our customers, the account name is not shown to protect any customer's personal identifiable information. For WP Engine hosting referrals, the cookie last 180 days. For StudioPress themes, the cookie last 60 days.

Note: There are factors beyond our control that can impact affiliate link tracking. The most common one being cookie and ad blocker extensions installed in web browsers.

Where can I see tracked sales in ShareASale?

How do I access my affiliate links?

Your affiliate link will be provided to you in a confirmation email shortly after joining our program. You can view the full inventory of links and banner ads in ShareASale. When logged in, under Links, select ‘Get a link/banner and choose ‘Get Links’ next to WP Engine on your merchant list. From there, you can choose from a wide variety of links and assets. To get the correct version of the link, simply select 'Get HTML code' to the right and then choose 'Select URL only'. Copy the resulting affiliate link and share as needed.

My sale didn’t track properly, can I still get credit?

There are a few reasons why a sale may not track correctly. Whether it is due to caching, a cookie not firing or your link being used incorrectly, our affiliate team can investigate the issue for you. In order to claim credit for a missing referral, you must notify us within 30 days of the purchase date and will be required to provide certain information to verify the account details. You can email us [email protected] to claim missed referrals.

What creative assets do you offer?

In addition to the banners found on ShareASale, affiliates have the added benefit of promoting WP Engine and StudioPress through a co-branded landing page. Simply email the affiliate team at [email protected] to request a landing page and include your ShareASale ID number and a 400 x 200 transparent copy of your company/brand logo as an attachment. The team will follow up when the landing page is ready.

Can I get a custom coupon code?

We restrict custom coupons to our top-performing partners on a case-by-case basis. All of our partners start with a generic promotional code to use. As your performance increases, the further we are able to build upon the relationship and determine what would best suit your audiences. What is Two-Tier tracking?

Where can I place my affiliate links?

This is up to you! We have an extensive catalogue of links and banner ads for you to use in your promotions. Ideal locations for links and banners include reviews, comparison pieces, newsletters, video descriptions, ebooks/guides, headers and footers. The more relevant the content, the better when it comes to placing your links.

Please note that we only allow affiliate links to be placed on domains that you own. If you wish to refer customers through platforms such as YouTube or Facebook, for example, you will need to link off to a landing page that contains your affiliate link.

What pages on WP Engine and StudioPress can I link to?

We encourage our partners to link to all pages and resources you believe may be helpful to your audience. Take advantage of the180-day cookie period and cross domain tracking to boost your content and provide more info to your audience. It’s a fantastic way of adding variety to the promotional content you have in place and can help with conversions.

Why was my commission voided?

Can I purchase on behalf of my client?

We strongly encourage all customers to sign up for new WP Engine hosting plans using their own billing information. While there may be instances where you need to sign up on behalf of your client, our program has a strict policy against self-submitted referrals which can be triggered with a high volume of sign ups.

We recommend that your clients sign up for their own account and add you as a used to then assist in the management of the account and site development.

Is direct linking permitted?

What’s the difference between the WP Engine Affiliate Program and the Agency Partner Program?

The Agency Partner Program (APP) is designed to cater to the way agencies and developers operate. If most of the referrals you send are from development work, direct client work, etc., APP may be a good fit. If your referrals are more likely to be driven from published content, e.g. through links on your website, then the affiliate program is the best choice for you.
