WP Engine Ireland has been recognized as a 2023 Best Workplace for Women by Great Place to Work, the Global Authority on workplace culture.

The recognition marks the first time WP Engine’s Limerick, Ireland office hub has been named a Best Workplace for Women and comes just a week after being named one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces for the fifth year in a row.

Launched in 2016, WP Engine Ireland has grown to more than 150 employees serving over 8,000 customers. As a reflection of that growth, WP Engine opened a new office in downtown Limerick last year, supporting further innovation and development.

“We’re extremely honored to be recognized as a great place to work, for all of our employees, and for women specifically, ” said WP Engine Sr. Director, Product, Haidee McMahon, who’s been a part of WP Engine’s Limerick-based team since 2018.

“Building a workplace where everyone feels supported requires continuous effort, and this recognition is a testament to our leadership, our employees, and the embodiment of our Core Values every single day.”

Ireland’s Best Workplaces for Women list recognizes leading organizations that provide a great work environment for all employees as well as a positive and supportive workplace for women in particular. That includes developing and promoting practices that make sure women have a fair and positive work experience, as well as the opportunity to contribute their talents while developing personally and professionally.

From bringing balance to the interview process to creating networks for women to connect, inspire, mentor, and challenge each other, organizations included on the list have developed programs that foster a strong pipeline of female talent and offer flexible working packages that employees can adapt to best suit their needs.

“We are delighted to announce the 2023 Best Workplaces for Women,” said Great Place to Work Business Development Strategist Fania Stoney.

”Given the turbulent environment over the last couple of years, it is particularly special to be able to come together to celebrate this achievement with these organizations, and the people who work there.”

“These are the workplaces that, while creating a Great Place to Work For All, are delivering a high trust experience for women in particular,” Stoney added. “They hail from a range of industries and are supporting women at a variety of stages in both their professional and personal lives.”

To make the Best Workplaces for Women list—in any of the 75+ countries where Great Place to Work conducts employee surveys—organizations must first become Great Place to Work certified.

Certification begins with Great Place to Work’s Trust Index Survey, which gauges the level of trust employees have in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs, and the extent to which they enjoy working alongside their colleagues.

Armed with this information, Great Place to Work identifies outstanding employers that score higher than 65% on the survey and are characterized by a trust-based, “people first” workplace culture.

Once certified, organizations are automatically considered for placement on the Best Workplaces lists throughout the year, including the Best Workplaces for Women. For that list specifically, Great Place to Work considers:

  • The overall experience women have in an organization, based on their Trust Index score.
  • Minimum variance in the Trust Index score between women and men.
  • The number of women in manager and leadership roles.

Additionally, Great Place to Work evaluates list candidates based on a minimum variance in the responses to the following statements:

  • “People here are treated fairly regardless of their gender.”
  • “Managers avoid playing favorites.”
  • “I am offered training or development to further myself professionally.”
  • “Promotions go to those who best deserve them.”
  • “I am able to take time off from work when I think it’s necessary.”
  • “People are encouraged to balance their work life and their personal life.”

“I’m extremely proud of our team, not only for the recognition they continue to get but for the effort they put into fostering a great workplace for one another,” said WP Engine Employee Experience Business Partner, International Lead, Becky O’Brien.

“One of our core values at WP Engine is ‘Do The Right Thing,’ and while it may sound like a simple mantra, I see our employees putting it into action every day. It makes a huge difference.”
