After a nearly three-year hiatus, WordCamp US<\/a> will return as an in-person event this weekend! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning Friday, September 9, hundreds of WordPressers will descend on San Diego for three days of educational programming, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities, touching every corner of the WordPress ecosystem.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s programming will follow the template of previous WordCamps: Friday and Saturday are filled with talks<\/a>, workshops, and lighting rounds, followed by a Contributor Day<\/a> on Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you\u2019re interested in learning more about WordPress in general, or finding out about specific trends and new developments, you’ll find what you\u2019re looking for at WCUS 2022! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can\u2019t attend in person, don’t worry! All standard WCUS sessions will be livestreamed<\/a> during this year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Want to talk about all things WordPress? Make sure and stop by Booth 12 in the Expo Hall to speak with WP Engine employees and partners about all of the exciting things we\u2019re focused on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incredible Talks with Experts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s WCUS organizers have done a masterful job curating more than 40 talks<\/a> and workshops with experts from around the world. While there aren\u2019t specific themes for this year\u2019s programming tracks, WordPressers of any skill level will find something they can use to level up their game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though you won\u2019t want to miss a single session, make sure you check out Let\u2019s Build a Custom Block in 15 Minutes<\/a>\u2014a lightning talk led by WP Engine Developer Advocate Nick Diego, on Friday afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even after all this time, block editing can still be intimidating<\/a> to many, and Nick has made it his mission to make block development more accessible. As his session title suggests, Nick will focus his lighting talk on designing a block, from start to finish, in 15 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve wanted to create your own blocks but haven\u2019t known where to start, this is a must-attend session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendee Tips and Tricks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Seeing as this is the first WCUS in almost three years, there are also a number of tips and tricks<\/a> we wanted to provide ahead of the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you bring everything you need to the venue. This includes comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and any and all chargers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another important thing to remember at this year\u2019s WCUS, is proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative test taken no more than 24 hours before the event. You can find out more about WCUS Covid-19 policy here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizers have gone to great lengths to ensure everyone leaves WordCamp happy and healthy. To ensure your status is recorded, make sure you sign up for the Vow Digital Health System<\/a> before attending the event or entering the venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have time, make sure and stop by the Contributor Day on Sunday<\/a>. Contributions to WordPress have been down over the last few years, and this is a great opportunity to sit down with some friends and give back to WordPress. Even if you don\u2019t have coding experience, this is a great day to sit down and learn with friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, while WCUS is all about learning and growing, that doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t room for a little bit of fun! Make sure you stop by the official WCUS After Party<\/a> at Riverfront Park on Saturday, September 10!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An in-person WordCamp US has been a very long time coming and we\u2019re so excited to finally be together again. When we left the conference center in St. Louis in 2019, we had no idea it would take almost three years to be back together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
