SXSW wrapped up its 23rd annual Interactive Festival yesterday, offering those who attended a\u00a0place to discover the technology of tomorrow today. The festival featured five days of presentations and panels from some of the brightest minds in technology, as well as networking events and showcases from some of best new ideas the community has to offer.<\/p>\n

Here are some highlights from the 2016 SXSW Interactive Festival:<\/p>\n

\"Voodoo<\/a>Voodoo Doughnuts supplied SXSW attendees\u00a0with daily free doughnuts and coffee to jumpstart their morning.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"SXSW<\/a>SXSWi began the fest with a\u00a0keynote presentation from the president himself<\/a>.\u00a0Barack Obama discussed how civilians can help the government improve its technology, as well as other technology focused topics, including his\u00a0thoughts on privacy rights with Apple and the FBI.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"INO-V8<\/a>Meet\u00a0INO-V8, a robot from Save the Inventor<\/a>, a coalition of\u00a0inventors, patent owners, and stakeholders looking to protect the American patent system. SXSW guests were welcomed to have a real conversation with the charismatic robot and take their photo with it.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Mr.<\/a>Mr. Robot, a USA Network TV series, made it’s second debut at SXSW with a 100-foot tall ferris wheel and Coney Island inspired arcade park.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Discovery<\/a>If you attended SXSWi, there’s a good chance you saw or tried a virtual reality device, which were abundant\u00a0at the fest. In this instance,\u00a0Gillette teamed up with\u00a0Discovery at SXSW to create the Discovery Pressure Chamber<\/a>, where guests were invited to sit in a chair\u00a0and wear a VR device, simulating\u00a0various situations, like\u00a0riding a roller coaster.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"140<\/a>Is there such thing as too much tweeting? Four panelists discussed this topic in the SXSW Interactive panel, 140 Characters, Zero Context<\/a>. “Hello my name is Mike and it\u2019s been one year since I\u2019ve gotten into a Twitter argument.\u00a0I’ve\u00a0come to more realization that maybe this isn\u2019t the best use of my time,” said Mike DeBonis of the Washington Post during the discussion.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Downtown<\/a>Despite a dreary, rainy start to SXSW, day two presented Austin, TX with sunshine, as well as spectacular views from the various downtown hotels where panels and speeches occurred.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>\"WP<\/a>WP Engine set up booth at the Austin Convention Center for SXSW Interactive. Employees were given the chance to volunteer on a daily basis and provide assistance on WordPress related questions and WP Engine’s managed hosting platform for WordPress.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/a>Choose San Antonio set up booth at the Austin Convention Center to discuss with attendees why San Antonio, TX is such a great place to live. (Looking to move to San Antonio? WP Engine is hiring<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Anthony<\/a>Anthony Bourdain took stage at the Austin Convention Center to discuss with Nathan Thornburgh on filming\u00a0scenes from CNN’s\u00a0“Parts Unknown”. “I don’t think I’m a journalist,” said Bourdain, referring to why\u00a0he thinks making TV can be a manipulative process.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
