“It\u2019s better to try it the right way and fail than to coerce the wrong partner to join you through deception,” said WP Engine CTO and Founder Jason Cohen in a recent article he wrote for\u00a0Fortune.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response to the question, “what\u2019s the best way for young startup owners to develop relationships with angel investors?” Cohen discussed some of the best practices<\/a> to abide by when looking for the right angel investor.<\/p>\n

The verdict — stand out from the crowd (if you can), be helpful, and don’t lie.<\/p>\n

“Like all relationships, the best ones are where you are your true, honest self, together with your worries and fears and anxiety. It\u2019s okay to show vulnerability,\u201d said Cohen.<\/p>\n

He added, “If the investor can\u2019t understand and accept the truth when the truth is told, that\u2019s not a ‘partner’ you want in your corner anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
