WP Engine has created a handy toolbar that can be found in the admin header bar of your site. This toolbar, called “WP Engine Quick Links”, appears as follows when you are logged in:
While some people may want to this toolbar to display, others may choose to have it disabled or only display for users of a specific role.
To enable this toolbar, go to the /wp-admin/ of your site and click on the WP Engine button at the top left side. Then, look under the “Display Options” header, which appears as follows:
How to disable the toolbar for all users
To disable the toolbar for all users, including administrators, select the dropdown menu next to “WP Engine Admin Bar” and choose “Disabled”. Then, click “Save”. Once you have saved, click the “Purge All Caches” button. After the page loads, the “WP Engine Quick Links” menu will no longer display for all users on your site.
How to restrict access to the toolbar
To disable the toolbar for users of specific roles, go to the area of Display Options entitled “Restrict Access.” Ensure that the dropdown menu for “WP Engine Admin Bar” is set to “Enabled” and then select which roles you want to see the toolbar. Then, click the save button to save your changes. Once you have saved, click the “Purge All Caches” button. After the page loads, the “WP Engine Quick Links” menu will show for the proper user roles.
