How do I change the domain name for my first/top level site in WordPress Multisite?

When you sign up for the Touring Package you will automatically receive a site with WordPress Multisite installed, and ready to go. The domain name for the first site will be the ‘wpengine’ sub-domain we provide you.

Before you are ready to change your DNS settings to make your site go live, you will need to contact the WP Engine Support Team in order to get the domain name changed. We do recommend doing this BEFORE you change your DNS settings. Once the change is made, you will need to edit your ‘host’ file in order to access your site, unless you intend to update your domain’s DNS settings immediately.
