Frederick National Laboratory — Brand Identity & Website Redesign
Back Pocket Media guided Frederick National Laboratory through a six-month discovery and design effort to unify a complex identity spanning government, private contracts, and high-stakes biomedical research. Engaging 22 stakeholder groups—from leadership to scientists—we defined brand positioning, information architecture, UX/UI design, content mapping, taxonomy, and WCAG AA accessibility. We developed a detailed style guide, pattern library, and technical handoff documentation before collaborating with a Drupal dev team. Four months later, the new site launched, delivering a visually stunning, user-friendly, accessible platform that highlights the science and supports future branding across digital and print.
The client applauded the result:
“The website… is not just visually stunning, but it also functions seamlessly, providing an exceptional user experience.”
This project exemplifies BPM’s ability to distill complexity, create consensus, and build compelling digital experiences that clarify mission and engage diverse audiences.
