In this ongoing blog series, we speak with WP Engine employees around the globe to learn more about their roles, what they love about the cities they work in, and what they like most about working at WP Engine.

In this interview, we speak with Marketing Events Manager Kelsey Webb, a more-than three-year veteran at WP Engine’s London office, who recently won the company’s coveted Supercharged Award. This prestigious award recognizes employees who were elected by their colleagues as the embodiment of company culture. Congrats again Kelsey! A well-deserved honour indeed!

Going back to the start, how did you discover WP Engine?

Through the job site, Indeed! I had a moment where I felt I had outgrown my previous company and was looking for something new and exciting. I set up in a local coffee shop and spent hours looking into new companies and roles on Indeed and stumbled across WP Engine.

Can you explain your current role at WP Engine?

I’m a Marketing Events Manager for EMEA in our London office. This means I own and manage our event presence at WordPress, the world’s favourite content management system, and tech industry trade shows, as well as the strategy behind all our “owned” events in Europe. Recently, I’ve made the switch to focusing on our internal events globally, so supporting all our global offices with exciting and engaging company and employee-focused events.

What is your favorite thing about working at WP Engine?

The people! I have never worked for a company that has felt more like home than here at WP Engine. I can honestly say I consider everyone in the office my friend and we’ve all got each others’ backs. It’s a very special place to work.

How do you contribute to the success of WP Engine?

Making sure that my teammates across the world feel heard and engaged with is something that is super important, not only to me, but also the company. By leading our internal events strategy, I can keep up great employee morale, which then leads to engaged and empowered people who love their job and the company they work for.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Being in a remote office away from my team, the majority of whom are based in Austin, TX. This is simply because I LOVE my team and I wish I could hang out with them every day.

Have you always lived in London? If not, what brought you there?

While I was born in London and am 100% British, I actually grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. I made the move back over to the UK four years ago after feeling like I wanted an exciting change and challenge. Plus London, in my opinion, is the best city in the world, so it was a no-brainer!

What are some of your favorite things about working and living in London?

Oh, where do I start? The food, the museums, the culture, the music, the parks, the markets, the history, the beautiful architecture… just everything!

What are some hobbies you enjoy outside of work?

I’m quite a sporty person, so I love playing any kind of sport. However, my two favorites are tennis and volleyball. I have been involved in volleyball leagues in London and then play tennis with two other WP Engine friends during the summer after work once a week, which is great fun. I also love to cook, bake, and watch quiz shows.

Favorite TV show of all time?

It’s honestly a dead tie between Gilmore Girls and The Office. I can’t choose!

Current addiction?

Pho! If I could have it every day for every meal, I’d be perfectly happy.
