NCA Architects (https://www.nca-architects.com)

Originally Nims, Calvani & Associates and renamed NCA in 2002, NCA Architects is a local architecture firm that specializes in sustainable design that provides low maintenance and affordable structures that are environmentally sound.

NCA needed to rebrand their website for better positioning and credibility. A primary function of the website is to feature NCA’s vast portfolio, so we needed to come up with an easy and intuitive solution that displayed each project in an organized and pleasing way.

Our team created custom post types for each portfolio item that include fields for industry specific categories, location, project status, client, and whether or not the project is LEED certified. The posts also have a carousel widget area for photos that filter through on the front end.

Engage For Equity (https://engageforequity.org)

Engage for Equity is an interactive resource website created for the Center for Participatory Research at the University of New Mexico. Our client had pages hosted on a university multisite but needed an interactive way to guide users through their research process and provide a variety of research tools. We worked closely with our client to showcase their large catalog of resources.

Our process began with our designer crafting a bespoke theme that incorporated Engage for Equity’s color palette, conveyed their inclusive research community vibe and blended it with a Southwest look and feel. With designs in hand, we got to work on the “guts” of the website to integrate WordPress, allowing them to upload a variety of media and resources.

Monroe's New Mexican (https://monroeschile.com)

Monroe’s previous site was a standard single column site that had a separate mobile subdomain, a technique that has since been mostly forgotten with the rise of responsive web design. They also had an embedded shop that was technically not apart of the site itself. Our goal was to make a design that would work well across all screen sizes, throw in some interactivity where we could, and supply them with a real shop that they had full control over.

We wanted to create something that had a modern layout, but held on to their history. Our main influences for this design were based around 60s era Albuquerque, mixed with the feel of a diner. We made some design choices to inject this bit of history via the fonts throughout the site, some background images and textures where applicable.

In terms of new features: the new menu is now a live filterable menu showcasing each item by its category. The recipe pages held on to the old sites usage of a paper-like background, but is laid out in an easy-to-read fashion and offers a lot of control in terms of content. We also added a fully featured calendar for Monroe’s to showcase food specials and events. Last, but not least, you can now head over to the site to buy a case of chile or merchandise!
