Olson Kundig

Olson Kundig is a global design practice that bridges the built and natural landscapes. In 2022, Olson Kundig needed to reimagine their public image, starting with their website. Through an extensive research process, we identified a key opportunity to address a gap in the firm’s public perception. While their previous website showcased the firm’s work, it lacked the human connection users were seeking to the Olson Kundig team and leadership. The firm’s enigmatic reputation created a sense of mystery, which posed a challenge throughout the redesign.

The new website aims to “lift the curtain” on Olson Kundig, transforming their digital presence into an interactive, story-driven platform that encourages curiosity and exploration. In collaboration with Olson Kundig’s internal team—who refreshed the firm’s brand identity during the process—we consulted on a revised type system and design framework to create a cohesive, engaging user experience. The result is a site that authentically reflects Olson Kundig’s culture and creativity, while inspiring users to immerse themselves in the stories behind the firm’s extraordinary work.

Bocci

Bocci is a design research studio, lab, and factory based in Vancouver, Berlin, and Milan. Their team of glassblowers, metalworkers, chemists, sculptors, designers, architects, and engineers are given the freedom to experiment endlessly with natural materials and phenomena. Every object is made by human hands, some the result of a single day’s experiment, others a decade in the making.

Drawing from our expertise in museum and design studio experiences, we shaped the shopping journey to feel like a gallery visit. Each Bocci project is introduced as a piece rather than a product, with atmospheric conceptual photography blending seamlessly with in-situ images to highlight the brand’s meticulous handcrafting and culture of experimentation. Bocci’s distinctive numerical taxonomy, classifying works in sequential order, informed the site’s structure, making it easy to explore the full breadth of their lighting collections. Bocci’s robust configurator allows customers to experiment at home, designing and visualizing their own unique installations to form endless design options.

Inform

Inform Interiors is a design institution in Vancouver, Canada, that has inspired our studio for years. Every visit, whether for a book signing with renowned designers, a thought-provoking exhibition, or exploring their beautifully curated displays where historic and contemporary objects coexist, has reinforced why Inform is considered one of the top design shops in the world. After celebrating their 60th anniversary, it was time to bring their legacy online.

Expanding on their new identity, we designed a site as thoughtfully curated as their showroom, where visitors can browse objects, explore designer stories, and engage with their renowned talks and writings. Guided by their name, “Inform,” we built a site as rich in knowledge as the store itself. The interface respects Inform’s blend of history and contemporary design, bringing their showroom into the digital realm with clean typography, generous whitespace, and an editorial approach to content. By blending storytelling with function, we created a digital space that extends Inform’s mission, being both a shop and a hub for all things design, architecture, and art.
