During my time at NOVA in the 1970s, I was trained as a computer operator by a temp agency. They recognized my natural ability for this emerging field due to my background in music. Since then, I have been working with computers and haven’t looked back.
In the mid-80s, while working at an engineering firm in Anchorage, Alaska, I was tasked with creating simple architectural drawings using Microsoft Micrographics. This experience sparked my love for digital design. I taught myself digital graphics at home and also attended trainings through employers.
My first website project was as the University Liaison and Web Master for the Center for Evidence-based Policy website at Oregon Health and Science University. It was at OHSU that I took my first HTML/CSS classes, which were provided for employees. I also participated in the design and development of an MS SharePoint site for 1,000 employees while working in the Director’s Office of the OR Dept of Administrative Services.
In 2011, I began working from home on several WordPress websites and creating social media graphics. I now have over 10 years of experience in this field.
In 2018, I started working on Upwork as a content/copywriter/SEO editor and PowerPoint designer. One of my earliest projects on Upwork was the design and development of a coaching WordPress site that also included the integration of the LearnPress LMS. Since then, I have completed over 100 jobs and currently hold a 100% Job Success Top Rated status on Upwork.
I started Elegant Content Guru as a portfolio site in 2018 and over time, it is growing into a great little agency.
