SXSW 2017: Ask Before You Need: Startups, Investing, And You
Over the past two decades, acquiring venture funding has completely changed from an era where there was a scarcity of capital to today when there are more sources of capital than ever before. Concurrently, low business startup costs, near free cloud computing, the ubiquity of social media, and global distribution channels means starting a business has never been more accessible.
Yet, the number of investors has not increased by any significant percentage. Part of the reason for this is because it’s easier than ever for entrepreneurs to prove out their value propositions, meaning investors now can de-risk their investments by looking at startups that have something to show.
So as an entrepreneur, how do you know when to reach out for funding and what traits should you look for in a venture firm? The answer often lies in your vision and mindset for the company.
Recently at SXSW 2017, WP Engine CTO Jason Cohen joined a panel that discussed this topic, including how to leverage new strategies and mindsets for the future of investing.
