
Comprehensive Security, Performance, and Accessibility Overhaul for Yacenter.org
At Yacenter.org, we embarked on a transformative project to bolster security, elevate performance, and ensure full accessibility across all devices. In Milestone 1, we meticulously planned and set up local and staging environments for WordPress, updated all outdated plugins and themes to their latest stable versions, and removed unused and vulnerable plugins. We implemented critical security protocols—including SSL configuration, admin hardening, and robust database security measures—while also addressing WCAG compliance issues by improving contrast ratios, adding ARIA roles, and ensuring seamless keyboard navigation. Additionally, we optimized the database by repairing tables, purging obsolete data, and clearing expired transients, and enhanced image delivery by implementing responsive sizing with the srcset attribute and converting images to modern formats like WebP.
In Milestone 2, our focus shifted to fine-tuning performance and ensuring a flawless user experience. We compressed and minified CSS and JavaScript files, implemented lazy loading, and preloaded critical assets such as the Largest Contentful Paint image.
