Giving back to the community.
WP Engine Open Hearts is the intersection of our passions and community needs. We give our time, talents and resources to improve the communities where we live and work by focusing on health, hunger, and education initiatives.
Charity starts at home.
Through multiple charitable initiatives, campaigns, fundraisers, and hours spent volunteering as coordinated by our Open Hearts Committee, we work to make direct impact in our community and those surrounding it. All initiatives are employee-led and employee driven.
Check out our 2019 contributions:
Central Texas Food Bank volunteering.
WP Engine has partnered with Central Texas Food Bank since 2014, participating in numerous volunteer and fundraising opportunities.
In 2019, WP Engine employees were challenged by the Founder and CTO, Jason Cohen, with an offer to match up to $5,000 in donations to CTFB during the Amplify Austin Day of Giving. The fundraiser and matching effort caught fire on social media, and with help from additional matches from friends and tech partners, ended the fundraiser with nearly $30,000 donated.
The huge fundraising success led to CTFB honoring WP Engine with one if its two 2019 Hunger Heroes awards.
Through the end of 2019, WP Engine and its employees volunteered over 900 hours and nearly $67,000.
Blood drives for We Are Blood.
Multiple times a year, employees donate to We Are Blood during blood drives at our Austin office.
Through the end of 2019, WP Engine employees donated 531 units of whole blood and 74 double units of red blood cells at 17 in-office blood drives. These donations have impacted over 1,700 lives and given our employees a fantastic opportunity to give back without going very far from their desks.
Help for Heroes fundraiser.
In 2019, 11 employees rode 300 miles from London to Paris and raised $4,500 for Help for Heroes, an organization that supports families and servants of the military.
Bike rides for charity have become a tradition for our London team with trips from London to Amsterdam in 2018 (nearly $6,000 USD raised for Mind, The Mental Health Charity) and from London to Brighton in 2016 (about $2,000 USD raised for Cancer Research UK).
DAM that Cancer fundraiser.
Every year since 2017 a group of WP Engine employees volunteers to fundraise and spend 11 hours paddle boarding on Austin's Lady Bird Lake, raising awareness and money for the Flatwater Foundation. In 2019, 16 employees raised over $64,000.
