Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB)

For over 35 years, ACCFB has stood by its unwavering belief that food is a fundamental human right. Their Food Now Program distributes millions of healthy meals annually and is at the forefront of new approaches to ending hunger and poverty in California and the United States.

ACCFB enlisted Kanopi to create an online presence that better reflected the diverse communities it serves while making it easier for people to find and access healthy, nutritious food fast. Starting with thorough user research, we identified what users wanted and needed from the site, creating a content and UX strategy that meets both user and ACCFB needs. This was followed by mood boards and wireframes to lay the groundwork for the design, presenting user interface, typography, imagery, and color options. Our strategy, design, and development teams worked together to ensure all solutions were workable — and that the new site would be as easy to update from the backend as it is to navigate on the front end.

The result? A new headless site with action-based navigation, prominent calls to action buttons, a location map, and thorough pantry information, giving users a site that is a delight to navigate.

First Tee

First Tee started in 1997 as a non-profit on a mission to make golf affordable and accessible for all kids. Over 20 years later, it expanded into offering the youth more than just access to the game. First Tee transformed into a youth development organization committed to helping kids build character strengths and important life skills while providing physical education classes, after-school programs, and access to personal growth opportunities through the sport of golf.

The website was over 5 years old, consisted of over 100+ member sites, and was developed in a restrictive template that didn’t allow for easy updating. This led to First Tee chapters being unable to update their sites efficiently and their existing vendor being overwhelmed with support cases. The sites also lacked cohesion, creating confusion about the brand across its international and US chapters.

We developed a flexible, easy-to-use solution allowing consistent branding and user-friendly updating across all chapter websites. From a reimagined user experience to a new chapter location tool and a simplified updating system, we empowered First Tee to own their web experience and share their powerful success stories by implementing a new content strategy.

International OCD Foundation (IOCDF)

Founded in 1986 by a collective of people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD,) the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) exists to help those affected by OCD and related disorders to live productive and full lives. The IOCDF aims to improve access to effective treatment through research and training while fostering a supportive community for those impacted by OCD and the specialists who treat them.

The IOCDF’s existing resource directory provided a wealth of information about therapists, support groups, programs, and clinics to assist people living with OCD. They wanted to expand their services and make it simple and straightforward for people with OCD to find the support they want and need. The IOCDF wanted to modernize its resource directory, focussing on user needs and improving user experience. In addition, because their old directory was built with ElasticSearch and relied on depreciated code, it wasn’t as sustainable or future-proof as it could be.

Kanopi created a new, dynamic directory that is scalable and includes an entirely updated user journey. From clear filters to an interactive map and provider list, the overall experience helps people living with OCD looking for support to connect with providers more easily.
