WP Engine Local Connect and development workflow FAQs

How do I get started with Local Connect and WP Engine?

Just follow these steps:

Create a WP Engine account and choose a hosting plan (or get a free development account when you sign up for our Agency Partners Program).
In your WP Engine dashboard, navigate to the API access page and click “Manage” under Account API Access.
Toggle on the “Account API Access” option.
Click “Generate credentials” on the API Access page to create a username and password and leave that page open.
Open Local and navigate to the Connect tab or the Connect icons in the bottom right corner of the app.
Click “Log in” next to the WP Engine logo.
Enter your WP Engine API username and password credentials.

You should now see a list of your WP Engine sites in Local, and you’re ready to push and pull sites between Local and WP Engine.
