WP Engine acquired StudioPress & Synthesis in June 2018, and we are excited to start powering your digital experiences on our fast, secure, and feature-rich WordPress platform. We wanted to provide an outline of the steps needed to complete this transition.
STEP 1: ACCESS THE WP ENGINE USER PORTAL
You have two options for accessing the WP Engine User Portal.
- Click Visit your User Portal Dashboard from the “Your WP Engine Install is ready, migrate your site now!” email.
- This email was sent to the address on file for your StudioPress/Synthesis account .
- If your email address needs to be updated, please log in to your StudioPress or Synthesis by StudioPress Account Portal and update your contact information. Then, create a support ticket to request the WP Engine User Portal email be resent.
- Visit my.wpengine.com and select Password Help.
For more information, please read our detailed article on the User Portal.
STEP 2: CONFIGURE YOUR DNS RECORDS
While WP Engine does not host DNS (only WordPress websites), our User Portal provides the information needed to update your DNS records with your DNS host.
Once logged in to the WP Engine User Portal, navigate to the Sites page and select your Environment. The Overview page for your Environment displays the appropriate CNAME (recommended) or IP address to use for your DNS update.
Login to your DNS host to update either your CNAME record or your A record (using the IP address). If you are not sure who your DNS host is, you can search for your domain on https://whois.com/whois/. Often, the Registrar where a domain is purchased hosts the DNS, but not always.
You can find more information about updating DNS records on our DNS article.
STEP 3: ENJOY YOUR NEW HOSTING PLAN!
HOW TO CONTACT WP ENGINE SUPPORT
Our Support team is available 24/7, as are our Support Garage articles and interactive walkthroughs.
Search Support Garage – Find popular and effective Support Garage articles for how-to guides and troubleshooting tips.
Live Chat – You can click Start live chat to access our Support team 24/7. There is also a Chat button at the top of your User Portal which can be accessed from any page.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MOVE MY SITE?
If you do not move your site to WP Engine or another provider by December 3rd, 2018, your site will become disabled. To lessen the impact, WP Engine will begin the process of migrating your site(s) for you on or after December 3rd, 2018. You must update your DNS in alignment with the server migration to WP Engine, or your site will remain inaccessible.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY CURRENT HOSTING BILL?
Provided you complete the migration to WP Engine, your new WP Engine base plan subscription is free for you until January 15th, 2019. After January 15th, 2019, you will be billed using your current StudioPress/Synthesis payment method at the new monthly rate of your WP Engine plan. This charge will be different from your current StudioPress/Synthesis plan charge.
Any remaining credit on your StudioPress/Synthesis account will be applied to your new account.
For any additional questions around billing or credits, please contact [email protected].
